Sir Vax-a-lot

This morning Telstra customers with compatible devices may have seen the provider’s network name change to Telstra #LetsVaxx, which feels reminiscent of the 2020 network name #StayHome.

Alongside the message of support, Telstra is rewarding customers who choose to get vaccinated and will be launching a social media campaign aimed at debunking COVID-19 vaccination conspiracies.

From late September, Telstra Plus members can recieve 2,500 bonus points once they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Once redeemed, customers will also go into a 100 million point draw with 20 winners set to win five million points each and up to $3,500 credit to pay their service fees for a year.

“This is a global emergency and to beat this we need to come together – just as we’ve done in the face of natural disasters and hardships gone by. I urge Australians to get vaccinated as soon as possible and we want to reward our customers for doing so,” said Telstra CEO, Andrew Penn.

In addition, all Telstra Plus members regardless of vaccination status will receive a digital care package including a Telstra TV Box Office movie to rent for free, discounts on an unnamed food delivery service, and extra discounts through the Telstra Plus Rewards store.

Any Telstra customer over the age of 18 is eligible to join Telstra Plus, which is Telstra’s customer loyalty program. Members accrue points based on dollars spent which can then be redeemed for discounts on products and services through the Rewards store.

Telstra Plus is an opt-in program, so even if you're already a Telstra customer, you'll need to register to start earning and redeeming points. Joining Telstra Plus is easy. You just need to:

Once you're ready, you'll need to use your Telstra ID to sign in to telstra.com/plus or the My Telstra app on iOS or Android. Click on the join Telstra Plus button and then follow the instructions.

This initiative comes off the back of the Telstra's employee incentives which saw 5,500 vaccinated Telstra employees rewarded for their decision to get the jab within just one week.

Further to the points injection, and digital care package, Telstra has launched a social media campaign to bust COVID-19 vaccination conspiracy theories similar to the provider's 5G/COVID-19 conspiracy theory debunking campaign from 2020.
