If double data isn't quite enough for your festive season needs, Vodafone is going all-out on its high-end Red Data and Red Global phone plans. For a limited time, switch to a selected Vodafone plan with a new device and you'll get triple the usual included data each month, for the exact same price.
Pick up a new smartphone on Vodafone's $80 Red Data, $80 Red Global, or $100 Red postpaid plans, and you'll score triple data every month for 24 months. Along with unlimited standard Australian talk and text, you'll get the following monthly data inclusions:
$80 Red Data Plan: 96GB (was 32GB)
$80 Red Global Plan: 90GB (was 30GB)
$100 Red Plan: 150GB (was 50GB)
Your monthly triple gigabytes will apply for your first two years on your selected plan, provided you don't switch service options. And as your handset repayments are now separated from your Vodafone mobile service, it doesn't matter if you pick a 12-month, 24-month, or 36-month phone repayment option - you'll still get triple data for 24 months.
If you go for the $80 Red Data plan, you'll get a little extra data for your dollars, but no included international features (besides unlimited international texts). However, the $80 Red Global option features some decent international calling extras as part your monthly service fee: you'll get 400 monthly minutes to 12 popular countries, plus 1000 minutes to over 40 more destinations.
Big data deals: how does Vodafone compare?
Vodafone's triple data offer is only available to new customers, and to current subscribers upgrading their smartphone. So if you're happy with your mobile phone and don't want to buy a new handset, it may not be the deal for you.
But if you're ready to gift yourself with a new Christmas phone and have serious data requirements, Vodafone's promo stacks up pretty well. All available plans of 30GB per month and above can be found below, but we've picked a few highlights and deals from the major telcos and MVNOs to compare.
If you're looking to Telstra for your mega-data needs, prepare to pay more. Right now you can sign on for 60GB for $129 per month on a 24-month contract, 75GB for $149, and 120GB for $179 per month on the Premium Plus Plan. If you're happy with big-but-not-too-big included data, both Virgin Mobile and Southern Phone offer 30GB for $100 per month, while Optus will give you 40GB for the same price.
All of the above plans require a phone purchase, but if you're looking for a SIM-only deal, you've still got options. Jeenee Mobile's SIM-only $74 plan includes 90GB of monthly data, as does Moose Mobile's $78 plan and Yomojo's $89.90 BYO phone option. The downside is that these plans only offer data on Optus' 3G network, rather than 3G and 4G; your data will be fast, but not 4G-fast.
Overall, Vodafone is giving data-hungry customers a lot to think about this December. To qualify for triple data, you'll need to sign up to an included Red plan before January 31, 2018; for more information on Vodafone plans, start comparing below.
