Eiffel Tower in Paris

If you're headed to Paris to experience the magnificence of the 2024 Olympic Games then Vodafone might have you covered with free international roaming in France between July 26 and July 28.

The telco's famous $5 roaming add-on will be completely free for all of its postpaid customers travelling in France during those dates. You just need to make sure it's activated.

The country is a data-burner too. Vodafone reports that its postpaid customers travelling in France in 2023 downloaded around an average of 671MB per day on average - six times more than the global average for international roaming (109MB per day).

International roaming can be activated on the following Vodafone postpaid plans:

The telco crunched the numbers and found that uploading just one 60-second video to TikTok could cost you $39, based on a $3 per MB charge you might find with other mobile providers.

Vodafone is one of our favourite options for international roaming because it allows you to access your full plan inclusions while abroad. As a comparison Optus' international roaming is another we'd recommend, it can be added for $5 per day as well but you only get 5GB to use each time.

If you're in for a long stay even Vodafone's roaming add-on can stack up. Those travelling in France and Europe for more than a few days might benefit from a travel eSIM. So long as you have a compatible device a travel eSIM is easy to install and manage.

Providers like Airalo, Jetpac and SIMCorner offer travel eSIMs that cover France and other countries in Europe. Prices vary but can start as low as USD$13 (AUD$19 at the time of writing) for 3GB to use with a 30-day expiry.
