40GB for $50: amaysim refreshes phone plans with even more data

Oh boy, data allowances sure are getting big these days. amaysim is the latest telco to rejig plans, and its range is now headlined by a $50 recharge with a massive 40GB of data, along with the requisite unlimited talk and text.

Even if you don't need or want 40GB, amaysim's other offers aren't bad. $40 per recharge gets you 20GB, and $30 gets you 10GB. Here's amaysim's complete range of plans:

All recharges worth $30 or more include unlimited international standard calls to 10 countries including China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, the UK, and the USA.

When looking at SIM-only plans, amaysim's 40GB recharge is one of the better value no-contract options. You can however get more data for your dollar if you're willing to lock yourself in for a year. Think Mobile, for example, will do 40GB for $37 per month on a 12-month contract. If you'd prefer the Optus network, Dodo will do 30GB for $40 per month, with your first six months billed at $20. It's also worth noting that amaysim plans are sold as prepaid recharges with a 28-day expiry. This means you'll have to top up 13 times each year.
