Amaysim has made an important change to its As You Go prepaid offer, with credit now expiring after 365 days.
The change is a big improvement on the previous terms for these plans, where credit used to expire after just 90 days. Existing customers already using an As You Go plan will be automatically changed over to the new terms.
This will be welcome news for anyone who uses their phone infrequently, especially those who keep a mobile phone handy in case of emergencies.
The call and message rates stay the same; at $0.12 per min for calls and $0.12 per message. This means customers choosing a $10 recharge can stay on the phone for just over 80 minutes before needing to top up, and now have a full year to use the credit.
In a blog post, an Amaysim spokesperson says it is “leaving the telco dinosaurs and their antiquated ways in the dust”. It isn’t the only telco offering 365 day credit expiry on prepaid plans, though. Telstra, Optus, Vodafone and Virgin Mobile all have 365 day options, though these include much lower value. Aldi Mobile has a very comparable deal, with similar per minute call rates.
