
Optus MVNO Vaya is shutting down, and will start migrating customers to amaysim from May 22. The telco has started notifying customers, and all customers should receive details about their service migration and new plan inclusions by May 1. Migrations will be conducted over several weeks.
Neither telco has published plan details, but amaysim says most Vaya customers will receive equal or better data inclusions for the same price, or at a lower price. Plans will continued to be billed monthly, and any voicemails will be transferred. All plans will support VoLTE, WiFi Calling, data banking, and some will also have 5G. Customers won't need a new SIM and will keep their number.
amaysim says debit and credit cards attached to a Vaya account will move over to the new amaysim account, but customers paying via BPAY will need to update payment details.
The transfer will happen automatically, and customers shouldn't lose connectivity during the process. amaysim will send Vaya customers a reminder of the migration closer to the day of.
amaysim acquired Vaya in 2016. Optus then acquired amaysim, and as such, Vaya, in 2021. The decision to kill off Vaya follows Optus shuttering gomo, another one of its in-house budget brands, at the of 2023.
