Telstra has expanded its COVID-19 response measures with the addition of a monthly discount for customers receiving the JobSeeker payment and an all new discounted plan.
Telstra customers on JobSeeker are able to get a $10 per month discount on their monthly bill in they have a single service, or a $20 per month discount if they have multiple services. These discounts will last for six months. Customers will be able to apply for this discount through the Telstra website between April 20 and May 4.
Telstra has also introduced a new entry-level $30 per month plan with 2GB of data and unlimited talk and text. This plan is free from excess charges, so customers can keep using unlimited data after their 2GB runs out, albeit at capped speeds of 1.5Mbps. This plan is available to anyone with an eligible Health Care card or Pensioner Concession card. Customers without either card can get the same plan for $40 per month.
At present, this new plan is only available "over the counter" in Telstra stores, or over the phone. Customers will however be able to sign-up to it via the Telstra website in the next few weeks.
In addition, a number of Telstra's existing measures have been extended until the end of June. This includes unlimited data for all Telstra broadband customers, unlimited domestic calls for pensioners with a Telstra home phone plan, and the waiving of late payment fees.
Postpaid mobile and mobile broadband customers who haven't already activated their 25GB of bonus data are now able to do so until June 30, as well.
