Telstra Plus members are now able to use their Telstra Points to get a discount on their monthly bill, provided they have an eligible plan and enough points.
At present, Telstra is offering three discount options:
- 25,300 points: $30 off for one month
- 30,300 points: $5 off for 12 months ($60 in total)
- 60,600 points: $10 off per month for 12 months ($120 in total)
Customers with an eligible plan and enough points will see a Pay With Telstra Plus points headline in the payments section of the My Telstra app. Customers can get a discount on Upfront mobile plans and Upfront internet plans, provided there is not an existing discount on the service. Telstra's Starlink-powered Satellite plans are excluded from the offer.
Customers with enough points can apply discounts to multiple services on their account, but each individual service can only have one discount at a time.
Telstra started progressively rolling out the functionality in November last year, but it is now widely available.
Telstra Plus, Telstra's loyalty program, is free to join for all customers. Prior to the new discount option, the main option for redeeming Telstra Points was on items such as gadgets through the Telstra Plus reward store.
Customers earn 10 points for every dollar spent on their mobile or internet plan. This means a customer would need to spend $2,530 to get the $30 discount, for example. That values each point at approximately 0.12 cents. The value is slightly better at approximately 0.19 cents per point for the 12-month options, but there are better ways to maximise points value in Telstra's reward store. For example, the $1,399 Apple Watch Ultra 3 can be redeemed for 578,100 points, valuing each point at 0.24 cents.
