Australia's 5G networks are still very much a work in progress, but as of today, Telstra customers will find 5G in more towns and cities around the country. Telstra 5G is now available in 25 towns and cities, up from 10 when the next generation network first launched in May.
New additions to the coverage map include:
- Albury Wodonga
- Central Coast
- Coffs Harbour
- Newcastle
- Port Macquarie
- Wagga Wagga
- Bundaberg
- Cairns
- Ipswich
- Rockhampton
- Townsville
- Ballarat
- Bendigo
- Geelong
- Warrnambool
Telstra 5G is also available in:
- Sydney
- Melbourne
- Adelaide
- Brisbane
- Canberra
- Gold Coast
- Hobart
- Launceston
- Perth
- Toowoomba
Telstra plans to have 5G in 35 Australian towns and cities by May 2020.
If you're after a 5G handset, Telstra is currently ranging five different devices. These include the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ 5G, the Galaxy S10 5G, the OPPO Reno 5G, the LG V50 ThinQ, and the newly announced Galaxy A90 5G.
Of course, it's worth remembering that 5G networks around the country are still in their infancy. If you do decide to pick up a 5G phone, it will almost certainly spend a lot of time connecting on 4G networks instead - for now.
