Superloop follows Optus with typical evening speeds of 750Mbps. Telstra is slightly behind reporting 700Mbps during peak hours. TPG and iiNet are a little bit slower again, with typical evening speeds of 671Mbps on their NBN 1000 plans.

Typical evening speeds on NBN 1000 plans have started increasing lately, likely thanks to changes in NBN Co wholesale pricing. NBN 100 plans and up no longer require telcos to purchase capacity on the network, removing one cost from the equation. Telcos still need enough capacity on their own network to enable these speeds, however.

In other NBN 1000 related news, those connecting to the NBN via HFC are set to get a speed boost this week. From May 1, HFC users will be able to get download speeds of close to a gigabit on NBN 1000 plans, up from the existing 750Mbps speed cap. This won't require any changes on a user's end.

NBN 1000 plans are only available to those with HFC or FTTP connections.
