The Razr 60 will be available to pre-order locally from July 3, according to Motorola Australia's Instagram. A Motorola spokesperson told WhistleOut that pricing has yet to be confirmed, but we know the device will launch exclusively with JB Hi-Fi.
(Update July 3: The Razr 60 is now available for pre-order and it retails for $1,199)
Succeeding last year's Razr 50, the Razr 60 is Motorola's latest "semi-premium" flip-style foldable. The internal hardware is a bit more modest compared to Motorola's Razr Ultra devices, and the external display is smaller.
That being said, the Razr 60 still has a 3.6-inch external display with a 90Hz refresh rate. That's a little bigger than the 3.4-inch display you'll find on a Galaxy Z Flip 6, for example. On the inside, there's a sizeable 1080p+ 6.9-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
Other key specifications include a Mediatek Dimensity 7400X chipset, 256GB of storage, 8GB of RAM, and a 4,500mAh battery. On the photography front, the Razr 60 has a 50MP primary lens, 13MP ultra-wide lens, and a 32MP selfie camera.
The phone will get three years of operating system updates, and four years of security updates.
One key improvement over last year's model is a higher IP rating. The Razr 50 was rated IPX8, while the Razr 60 is IP48. While the phones have the same level of water-resistance, the new model has better protection against dust and dirt.
Locally, the Razr 60 will be available in a choice of two Pantone colours: "Gibralatar Sea" or "Parfait Pink". The former has a "nylon-inspired" texture, while the latter is more like vegan leather.
While we don't know pricing yet, last year's Razr 50 sold for $1,199 outright.
At this stage, it is unclear whether Motorola will also be launching the Razr 60 Ultra in Australia. The brand has been teasing the launch of another new device on its local Instagram, but that appears to be the Motorola Edge 60 Pro.
Motorola isn't the only manufacturer launching new foldable phones right now. Samsung is set to reveal its latest Z-series devices on July 10.
