Fitbit today took the wraps of the Luxe, its most fashion forward tracker to date. While the vast majority of Fitbit devices have definitely had a sportier vibe to them, the Luxe feels like an "aesthetic first" design. It's the company's thinnest tracker to date, the first to use stainless steel (similar to the top-tier Apple Watch models) instead of aluminium, and features an entirely buttonless design. Fitbit says the thinner design should also make the Luxe more comfortable for sleeping with.
In addition to the typical range of silicone bands Fitbit devices come with, Fitbit is also making a wider range of bougie bands available for the Luxe. These include woven bands, stainless steel mesh bands, and a leather double wrap. The most unique is a link bracelet created in partnership with jewellery maker Gorjana.
A new design aside, the Fitbit Luxe is a fairly typical fitness tracker. It covers off all of the key metrics including heart rate, blood oxygen, and sleep, it's water-resistant up to 50m, and can last up to give days per charge. The one missing feature is GPS. For accurate location tracking on a walk or run, you'll need to also have your smartphone with you.
The Luxe is available for pre-order from today via the Fitbit website starting at $199.95. You can get in a choice of gold stainless steel with a lunar white band, graphite stainless steel with a black band, or platinum stainless steel with an orchid band. Opting for the tracker with the Gorjana band will set you back $299.95. The standard Luxe will be available from late May, while the Gorjana version is coming mid-June.
If you've yet to try Fitbit's subscription service, you can get a six-month free month trial of Fitbit Premium with the Luxe.
