Customers of Telstra's budget brand Belong now have access to international roaming options when travelling overseas.

Belong has taken a very simple approach to international roaming with just a single travel pack. It costs $30, comes with 3GB of data, unlimited SMS, and 150 minutes of talk. The pack has a 15-day expiry.

Belong's roaming pack works in over 30 countries. These include the following:

Austria, Canada, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Fiji, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Israel, Latvia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zeland, Netherlands, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, UK, USA, and Vanuatu

These Belong SIM-only mobile plans are all compatible with its new roaming add-on:

All Belong mobile customers also get free use of a basic roaming service. This allows customers to receive SMS while overseas (for verification codes, for example), and use WiFi calling when on a suitable network.

Belong is the latest small provider to add an international roaming option. Until recently, semi-affordable international roaming has been limited to Telstra, Optus, and Vodafone. Smaller providers typically haven't offered roaming as a service, or when they have, charged at pay-as-you-go rates that were equivalent to over $1,000 for a single gigabyte.

amaysim and Boost Mobile are two other small providers that have added international roaming this year.

amaysim's best value roaming option gets customers 5GB of data for $50, and doesn't include talk or text. That's the same cost per gigabyte as Belong, but it has a much longer 365-day expiry.

Boost Mobile's equivalent roaming add-on also costs $30 for 3GB. It has a shorter seven-day expiry, however, and only has 30 texts and 30 minutes of talk.
