Travellers can rejoice - there’s a new option to stay connected with loved ones when you head overseas. amaysim has ditched ‘pay as you go’ daily roaming in favour of new travel packs, starting from just $20.
There are 4 new packs including:
amaysim roaming packs
Each pack is valid for 365 days meaning you can keep any leftover inclusions so long as you renew or add to your pack before it expires. These travel packs can be purchased directly through the amaysim mobile app or online so long as you have an active plan. Are amaysim’s new roaming packs any good? The new amaysim new travel packs are certainly an improvement on the previously offered, and expensive, roaming charges. Plus, you don’t have to scramble to set up a local SIM when you arrive overseas. It really comes down to how long you’re away for, and which inclusions you’ll need to get by. There’s an option for the traveller who just needs talk and text to keep in touch, or those who need a bit of everything. You can purchase multiple packs and stack them how you wish. Anyone who wants a more substantial amount of data (for less) is probably better off looking at local SIM options. How do amaysim’s international roaming packs compare to other options?amaysim’s plans still have some way to go, compared to some of the other international roaming options available in Australia. Vodafone’s international roaming from just $5 a day remains the gold standard. It lets you access your full plan inclusions so you can get by just as you would when at home. Meanwhile Optus’ international roaming offers 5GB of data and unlimited talk and text for $5 a day. Of course, that does mean you’ll spend more each month as Vodafone and Optus plans tend to cost a fair bit more than amaysim. For another more budget friendly option consider Boost Mobile which relaunched its travel packs at the end of last year.
