Aussie Broadband mobile customers now have access to $5 per day international roaming when travelling overseas. Customers are billed $5 for each day they're overseas in a "Zone 1" destination, which gets them unlimited talk and text and a daily allowance of 5GB.
Just under 150 countries make up Zone 1, including large parts of Asia, Europe, and the Americas. A few African countries are in Zone 1, but the majority fit into Zone 2. You can find the full list on the Aussie Broadband website.
If this sounds familiar, that's because Aussie's roaming offer is pretty much identical to Optus', which makes sense, given Aussie Broadband's mobile plans are powered by the Optus network.
Unlike Optus, Aussie Broadband offers pay-as-you-go rates are available for Zone 2 and Zone 3 destinations. These tend to be a lot more expensive, however, and can spiral quickly. For example, 1MB of data costs $1 in a Zone 2 destination, or $15.50 in a Zone 3 destination. In Zone 3, that would take the cost of 1GB to $15,500.
Aussie Broadband mobile customers can enable or disable international roaming through the MyAussie mobile app or web portal. Aussie Broadband's roaming is off by default, so any customers who wants to use it will need to enable it first.
