Aussie Broadband is the latest telco to put up prices, with several of its mobile plans now costing $5 more per month. The increase impacts all of Aussie's 5G mobile plans, with prices now starting at $50 per month for a 30GB plan.
Here is a complete breakdown of the price changes for Aussie's 4G plans:
- Basic Pack (3GB): Was $15 per month, now $15 per month
- Stay Connected (10GB): Was $20 per month, now $20 per month
- Aussie Saver (30GB): Was $30 per month, now $35 per month
- Max Value (40GB): Was $40 per month, now $40 per month
Here are the pricing changes for 5G plans:
- Fast Track (30GB): Was $45 per month, now $50 per month
- Tech First (80GB): Was $60 per month, now $65 per month
- Future Now (220GB): Was $70 per month, now $75 per month
And here are all Aussie Broadband's current mobile plans:
All customers on an affected plan will pay the new price going forward.
An Aussie Broadband spokesperson told WhistleOut the price rises are the result of everything else getting more expensive.
"Unfortunately, the increased operational costs of the current economic environment means we can no longer fully absorb the impact on some of our plans," said the spokesperson. "To minimise the impacts on those who need it most, the cost of our entry-level $15 and $20 voice plans […] will remain unchanged."
In addition, Aussie Broadband is grandfathering some of its old mobile plans. Customers who were previously on its "Data Hungry" $50 mobile plan with 100GB of data will be moved over onto the "Future Now" $75 plan with 220GB. They will however get a $15 discount for the first 12 months.
Aussie Broadband has also introduced a small number of bundle options that allow customers to package its NBN plans with mobile plans for a discount. These are as follows:
- NBN 100 plan + 40GB mobile plan: $129 per month ($10 per month saving)
- NBN 100 plan + 2x 40GB mobile plans: $164 per month ($15 per month saving)
- NBN 250 plan + 2x 220GB 5G mobile plans: $254 per month ($25 per month saving)
While price rises are never popular, Aussie Broadband is far from the only provider to increase prices lately. Telstra, Belong, and Boost Mobile have all upped fees on some plans at the start of last month.
