Customers on independent Telstra-powered providers like ALDI Mobile, Tangerine, Superloop, and Everyday Mobile are the most likely to recommend their telco to a friend, according to new research from Roy Morgan.
This group of MVNOs - telcos on the Telstra network, but not owned by Telstra like Belong and Boost Mobile - scored the highest Net Promoter Score (NPS) in a survey of over 65,000 consumers. The independent group scored 43.4, compared to 38.1 on Belong, 19.9 on Boost, and 6.9 on Telstra itself.
NPS is a measure of how likely a customer says they are to recommend a brand or product on a 0 to 10 scale. The score is made up of the percentage of "promoters" (nine or ten) subtracted by the percentage of "detractors" (between zero and six).
While Telstra's NPS score was low compared to MNVOs on its network, it still fared better than Optus and Vodafone. Vodafone scored just one, while Optus was the only provider in the negatives, with minus five.

Roy Morgan CEO Michele Levine noted that MVNOs have increased their share of services in operating from 17% in March 2021 to 19% in March 2025 - an equivalent of 700,000 services.
"The factors driving this increase are the ultra-competitive pricing offered by MVNOs which can offer lower prices for almost the same coverage levels as the major network brands," said Levine.
"The customers choosing to switch to MVNOs are more likely to mention price-related reasons for switching to these brands than those sticking with the ‘big three’ – and this is clearly a key factor for many Australians during the cost-of-living crisis of the last few years."
Levine also pointed to the high NPS of MVNOs as being indicative of quality customer service.
