The days are getting starting to get a little longer, the mercury is slowly rising, and Samsung has a couple of new phones. Ahhh, classic August.
Samsung has just launched two new handsets in the Note family, the Galaxy Note 20 and the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.
In this guide, we'll cover everything you need to know about the new Galaxy Note 20. But first, here are a few of the most popular Note 20 plans. We've chosen plans paired with the 5G device on a 24-month repayment:
The standard Note 20 isn't quite as flash as the fancier sounding Ultra, but at the same time, it's a bit more affordable with a $1,499 starting price.
This, of course, does result in a few compromises. In some ways, the Note 20 is best defined by what it's not.
While the Note 20 Ultra has a curved Quad HD+ display running at 120Hz, the standard Note 20 is a little more conventional. It's a 6.7-inch 1080p+ screen at 60Hz.
It's a similar situation when it come to camera. The Note 20 Ultra has a 108MP primary camera, a 5x zoom lens, whereas the the Note 20 has a 12MP primary camera and 3x hybrid-optical zoom lens.
Oddly, the Note 20 has a plastic back, while the Note 20 Ultra is built from glass. Plastic backs are still common when it comes to more affordable smartphones, but it's a pretty unusual choice for a phone that starts at $1,499.
Of course, the Note 20 still has Samsung's best processor to date, optional 5G connectivity, and an S Pen with improved latency. It might not quite have all the bells and whistles when compared to the Note 20 Ultra, but it feels like a more than capable "premium economy" model that will save you a couple of hundred.
The Galaxy Note 20 is now available.

The Galaxy Note 20 is the most affordable device in the Note 20, but that doesn't make it cheap: it will set you back at least $1,499. It's only available in one storage configuration, with 256GB of memory.
If you're considering a Galaxy Note 20 you'll need to make one choice: whether you want the standard 4G version, or would prefer to opt for the slightly more future-proof 5G variant. If you're thinking 5G, you'll pay an extra $150 on top of the Galaxy Note 20's asking price.

Choosing a Samsung Galaxy Note 20 plan
With the WhistleOut search tool, you'll can compare Galaxy Note 20 plan pricing and inclusions across every provider. But there's a lot more to plans than just cost and data. Here's a break-down of the major benefits you can expect from each provider.

Telstra Galaxy plans are often the priciest on the Australian market, but they do come with a host of perks. These include:
- Access to Telstra's super-fast 4GX network
- Data-free access to Apple Music
- Free access to AFL, AFLW, NRL, Netball and Football live apps
- Free access to Telstra Air Wi-Fi hotspots across Australia
- Free access to Fon public Wi-Fi hotspots overseas
- Access to the Telstra Plus perks and rewards program
Telstra only lets you pay off your Galaxy over 24 months, but all plans are free from excess data charges. If you go over your cap, your data will simply be slowed to speeds of 1.5Mbps, which is still fast enough to stream video in SD. But speeds may be slower during peak times.

Optus Galaxy plans come with big data inclusions and entertainment extras. Almost every Optus Galaxy plan comes with:
- Free access to Optus Sport
- Discounted movie tickets for Hoyts cinemas through the Optus Perks program
You'll miss out on Optus Sport if you only sign-up for Optus' cheapest plan.
Higher-end Optus Samsung plans also come with unlimited international calls to selected destinations included with the plan, as well as a monthly allocation of roaming data for use overseas.
As with Vodafone, Optus now lets you pick a repayment term for new phones: 12, 24, or 36 months. You're able to change your plan once per month, or if you'd prefer, you can build your own plan with customised data, international calling, and roaming inclusions.

Vodafone Galaxy plans may not come with the kinds of freebies and perks you can get from Optus or Telstra, but they do offer a lot of flexibility. Like Telstra and Optus plans, Vodafone plans are contract-free on the basis that you can leave at any time without penalty. You'll just need to pay out the remaining value of your handset.
You can also step up or down in plan inclusions once per month, and ease the burden of ever-rising phone prices by paying off your handset over 12, 24 or 36 months. You'll pay the same overall for your Galaxy no matter which option you pick.
You'll also get access to Vodafone's famous $5 roaming, which is still easily the best way to travel with your Australian phone number.

Woolworths Galaxy plans may not come from a big name telco, but there are other perks.
Woolworths Mobile plans tend to be the cheaper than what you'd pay Telstra, Oputs, or Vodafone, which itself makes the telco worth considering.
You'll also get 100GB Data Banking for your excess data. Anything of your data allowance that you don't use will roll over to the next month. You can have up to 100GB of data in your data bank at any time.
Every three months, you can also access 10GB Bonus Holiday Data through the Woolworths Mobile app and also receive 10% off their shop once per month (up to a maximum discount of $50).
Woolworths Mobile plans are available on a 24 and 36-month terms.
Woolworths Mobile is powered by the Telstra mobile network. At this stage, Woolworths Mobile does not have access to Telstra's 5G network.
