Apple - in a collaboration with Code.org - will holding free hour-long coding classes for kids as young as six at every Apple Store in Australia across the first full week of December.
Kicking off on December 5 and running until December 11, Apple Stores will be running two coding workshops on a daily basis. The first, "block-based coding for young coders", is recommended for kids of ages six and up. The second, "write code with Swift Playgrounds" teaches older students how to write code using Apple's Swift Playgrounds app on iPad.
"Coding is just like any language, the earlier you’re exposed the more successful you’ll be,” said Apple senior vice president of Software Engineering Craig Federighi. "Whether at an Apple Store, in a classroom, or at home with an iPad, Swift Playgrounds brings real coding concepts to life and empowers the next generation with the skills they need to express their creativity."
