Low-cost MVNO Amaysim has added a new 'Mobiles and Tablets' tab to its e-commerce website, linking customers to deals on devices in which to install an Amaysim SIM card.
It won't be selling the devices advertised however, with sales going through partner site Mobicity.
"People can still check out handsets & tablets on our site, but are buying them from a company that’s got a track record and experience in this area," Amaysim spokesperson Gerard Mansour explains.
"This is something we make pretty clear so customers understand who they’re doing business with."
All payments for devices are processed by Mobicity, as is post-sale service, including warranty claims.
"While we want to stick to our core biz of BYO plans without all the usual trappings that come with contracts, we wanted to find a way for people to access devices at a nice price," said Mansour.
The prices are pretty good, and interestingly, cheaper than on Mobicity. All of the phones we've seen listed on the Amaysim site are $10 cheaper than the same model on Mobicity's site, including the Galaxy S3 Mini, Nokia Lumia 820 and Galaxy S4 (i9500).
It is worth noting that many of the devices visible on the Amaysim site are 3G-only, which is perfect for its 3G network, but won't be great if you switch to a 4G network in the future.
