Samsung today announced the Australian launch of its Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, a more affordable companion device to the Galaxy Tab S6. While the Galaxy Tab S6 starts at $1,099, the Tab S6 Lite is literally half the price starting at $549.
Outside of price, the Tab S6 Lite is a fairly typical Android tablet, in that it has a sizeable display and runs Android. The main point of difference between it and other more affordable models is that you get an S Pen stylus in the box. It also marks the first time Samsung has bundled a stylus with a tablet at this kind of price point.
Key specifications for the Tab S6 Lite include a 10.4-inch display (running at a resolution of 2000x1200), an Exynos 9611 processor, 4GB of RAM, a minimum of 64GB of expandable storage, and a 7,040mAh battery. It's available in both WiFi-only and 4G-enabled model.
The Tab S6 is available from today. You'll find it via Samsung stores, as well as retailers including JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, The Good Guys, Bing Lee, and Officeworks. At this stage, no telco is ranging the Tab S6 Lite, so if you're after a 4G model, you'll need to get a SIM-only mobile broadband plan to go with it.
Pricing for the Tab S6 Lite as follows:
- Tab S6 64GB (WiFi only): $549
- Tab S6 128GB (WiFi only): $649
- Tab S6 64GB (WiFi + 4G): $699
- Tab S6 128GB (WiFi + 4G): $799
For comparison, Apple's entry-level iPad starts at $529 for a WiFi only 32GB model, or $689 for a 128GB option.
