Last week, we announced a big-data Christmas deal for customers picking up a new phone and plan with Vodafone. But if you're already all-set for a smartphone - and don't want to spend $80 and up on your monthly plan - Vodafone's latest SIM-only offer has your New Year data needs covered.
From now through to January 4, you can sign on for Vodafone's $40 Red SIM Only plan on a 12-month contract, and get a hefty 20GB of monthly data. Your data allowance includes a standard 6GB, plus a bonus 14GB of 4G data each and every month - at no extra cost.
Even better? New and upgrading customers can also enjoy a $5 per month discount on the same $40 deal - so that's 20GB of fast data, plus unlimited standard national talk and text, for $35 per month. Your extra data and $5 price cut applies for the length of your contract, so that's a total saving of $60 over 12 months.
The $40 SIM Only Plan also includes standard international call minutes each month: 150 minutes to more than 50 selected countries, plus 500 minutes to 12 popular destinations (Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States).
How does Vodafone's offer compare?
Vodafone's 20GB is one of the best high-data, lower-price offers available during the competitive Christmas period. But f you're looking for an alternative promo from a different network, Virgin Mobile's $48 12-month SIM plan runs on Optus' 4G service, and includes 22.5GB of monthly data (when you apply the promo code WHISTLEOUT at checkout).
Optus' own $50 SIM Only plan now includes 30GB of data each month on a 12-month contract, plus bonuses such as Optus Sport and National Geographic, and data-free music streaming (which is also available on Virgin Mobile). If you're interested in Telstra, the company's 20GB SIM-only plan is priced at a more expensive $79 per month over a 12-month contract: more than double what you'll pay for the above $35 Vodafone deal.
