Vodafone today announced a temporary $10 per month plan for customers experiencing financial hardship due to COVID-19.
For just $10 per month, for the next three months, existing Vodafone customers can apply for the Stay Connected Cap Plan which includes 3GB of mobile data, and unlimited standard calls and SMS in Australia.
The Stay Connected Plan is available for both private and business postpaid customers on Red or Red Plus Plans, who are experiencing financial difficulties as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
After the three month period, customers will automatically return to their existing plan. Device payments, such as phones or tablets will still be due as usual during the offer period.
Customers will be able to apply for the special assistance package online at vodafone.com.au between April 20th and May 20th, 2020. Situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, however all applicants will be required to present proof of their financial difficulty.
Documentation may include a Centrelink statement or reference number, a letter from your employer confirming your employment status, or a letter relating to the JobKeeper program.
Vodafone Chief Executive Officer Iñaki Berroeta said that the company recognises its role as part of the support network for customers at this time, and expressed Vodafone’s ongoing commitment to supporting customers across the board.
“The COVID-19 situation is affecting customers in different ways, whether it’s unemployment, remote working or learning, or being physically isolated from people important to them,” he said.
“We want to help as many customers as we can, especially those who need help the most, with initiatives to support their changing needs at this time.”
This package is the latest of Vodafone’s Coronavirus support packages, and is available in conjunction with the company’s other initiatives, such as the suspension of late payment fees, bonus data, and two months free mobile access for health practitioners.
