Following a recent refresh of its international roaming rates, Telstra is once again changing how it bills its subscribers travelling overseas. Most of the new "international day pass system" is staying the same: you'll pay $10 per day when your mobile overseas in eligible countries, which gets you unlimited talk and text, and 100MB of data to use before midnight.
From August 20, if you exceed that data allowance in any given day, you'll get billed another $10 which will add 500MB to your account with a 31-day expiry. You'll keep using data from this 500MB on any day where you go over your daily 100MB travel allowance.
Currently, Telstra bills excess roaming data at 3 cents per megabyte. This is equivalent to $30 a gigabyte, or $15 for 500MB.
