If you still haven't picked up Google's excellent Pixel 2, Telstra has resurrected its Christmas 'family and friends' offers for selected phones and plans.
Right now, you can sign up for the aforementioned Pixel 2 - or one of six other popular devices - on a 20GB plan for $79 per month. The offer applies to the following smartphones:
- Google Pixel 2 (64GB)
- Google Pixel XL (32GB)
- Samsung Galaxy S8 (64GB)
- Samsung Galaxy S7 (32GB)
- Apple iPhone 7 (32GB)
- Apple iPhone 6 (32GB)
- Telstra Signature 2 (16GB)
In addition to 20GB of data, the plan also features unlimited national calls and texts to standard Australian numbers, plus unlimited international calls and texts to 15 countries, including Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, New Zealand, the UK and the USA.
Telstra is also throwing in a 12-month Foxtel Now starter pack subscription, plus six months' of data-free Apple Music membership, data-free live sport, free WiFi via Telstra Air, and a free 200GB One Drive cloud subscription.
15GB for $59 offer
If you'd like something a little cheaper, Telstra is also offering a $59, 15GB plan with unlimited standard national calls and texts, Apple Music and the above Telstra Air and OneDrive access. Telstra's $59 offer is available with the following phones:
- Google Pixel XL (32GB)
- Samsung Galaxy S7 (32GB)
- Apple iPhone 6 (32GB)
- Telstra Signature 2 (16GB)
Whichever plan you go for, you'll need to sign a 24-month contract - but your monthly price ($79 or $59) includes both your phone payment and plan fees. Although the Pixel 2 is only available with the $79 deal (and not on the $59 plan), it's still the best-value Pixel 2 promo out there right now, particularly as Telstra is the only Aussie telco offering the in-demand device on a plan.
On the other hand, if you're eyeing off the similarly-great Galaxy S8, you can get a better deal elsewhere. Rather than pay $79 with Telstra, you can pick up the S8, plus 20GB of data and plenty of extras, on Optus' limited-time $59 My Plan Plus offer.
Finally, despite the 'family and friends' tagline Telstra is using for the promo, the offer does seem open to any interested Telstra customer. As long as you've got valid ID and payment info, you should have no problem signing up for either the $59 or $79 deal online or in stores.
