ANZ Samsung Pay

If you're an ANZ customer with a Samsung device, you'll now be able to add your compatible credit and Visa debit cards to your Samsung Pay account.

Samsung today announced that it is officially partnering with ANZ to bring its popular Samsung Pay mobile payment platform to millions more Australians. Instead of tapping or swiping your ANZ card when making purchases, you can now pay via your eligible Samsung smartphone or wearable.

The new deal with ANZ sees Samsung now partnering with over 40 payment card brands, and with more than 870 banks worldwide - giving customers more options than ever for making easy, convenient on-the-go payments.

How do I use it?

To use Samsung Pay with your ANZ account, you'll need an eligible Visa debit or credit card, and a supported Samsung device. Compatible smartphones include the Galaxy S8 and S8+; the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge; the Galaxy S6, S6 edge, and S6 edge+; the Galaxy A7; the Galaxy A5; and the Galaxy Note 5. Wearables include the Gear S2 and S3.

You'll need to install the Samsung Pay app (if you haven't already), and follow the prompts to set up your account, validate security features, and add your compatible bank and loyalty cards.

Once your ANZ cards have been added and verified, you'll be able to use them immediately to make in-store purchases: simply open the Pay app, select the card you want, verify your fingerprint (or PIN), and tap your device on the card or NFC reader at checkout.

Samsung and ANZ: more options, worldwide

Samsung Pay is generally accepted anywhere you can pay via Visa, MasterCard, or American Express, both in Australia and overseas. The platform uses NFC to make secure, 'tokenized' payments, which protect your financial and identifying information (such as card numbers and expiry dates).

ANZ is the second of the 'big four' Aussie banks to sign up to Samsung Pay, alongside Westpac. In addition to Samsung Pay, ANZ also supports Apple Pay, Android Pay, and its own ANZ Mobile platforms - making it the only major Australian bank to offer its customers four 'digital wallet' services across both Android and iOS.
