OPPO is bringing a new entry level device to Australia from September 10: the $379 OPPO AX5.
While the OPPO AX5 is a fairly conventional budget device in many ways, there's still a few interesting features. Most notably, OPPO has ditched the fingerprint reader entirely, and users will rely on facial recognition to unlock the phone. There's also a pretty unique diamond pattern on the back, and since it's 2018, there's obviously a notch.
At least it still has a headphone jack.

Key specifications for the OPPO AX5 include a 6.2-inch 720p+ display, a Snapdragon 450 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable storage, a 13MP + 2MP dual rear-facing camera configuration, and a 4,230mAh battery. It runs OPPO's ColorOS 5.1, a heavily customised version of Android.
The OPPO AX5 will be available in stores from September 10 in a choice of pink or blue. You'll find it outright at JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guy, Officeworks, RetraVision, and MobileCiti. Woolworths Mobile and TeleChoice will offer the phone on a contract. The Good Guys, TeleChoice, and Officeworks will only have the OPPO AX5 in blue, and Woolworths Mobile and MobileCiti won't have it in stock until September 17.
