OPPO's managed to tee up its first deal with Australia largest telco, with Telstra offering the OPPO A57 as a prepaid device for $269. The A57 is OPPO's cheapest phone currently available in Australia, and normally retails for $329. Nabbing it through Telstra will save you $60, but the phone will be locked to Telstra's network.
If you want to unlock your new A57 within the first six months, you're looking at an $80 fee. If you're happy to wait, the fee gets cut to $25 after six months. After two years, you'll be able to unlock the phone for free. It's important to note that you will need to get the A57 unlocked if you want to use an international SIM card in it while travelling overseas.
Key specifications for the A57 include a 5.2-inch 720p display, an octo-core Snapdragon 435 processor, 32GB of expandable storage, 3GB of RAM, a front-facing fingerprint reader, a 13MP rear-facing camera, a 16MP front-facing camera, and a 2,900mAh battery. It runs a customised version of Android - ColorOS 3.0 - based on Marshmallow.
Telstra is ranging the A57 in a choice of black and gold.
The news follows Telstra's prepaid plan refresh where it introduced a new "Data Bank" offer; prepaid customers who recharge at least $30 every 28-days are able to store up to 50GB of data to use on a rainy day. Read more about Data Bank here.
