The iUniverse isn’t synonymous with affordable pricing, but preloved phone provider numobile is selling refurbished iPhones starting at just $389.
As part of the Boxing Day sales, nu has slashed up to 25% off selected phone models including the iPhone 8, iPhone XR and the iPhone XS. Prices range from the low $389 for the iPhone 8 through to $809 for an iPhone XS.
Unlike most other refurbished providers, you can choose to buy your nu iPhone on a plan rather than outright. numobile’s Medium and Large plans currently include 10GB bonus data every month until February 14th, 2021. If you don’t use your extra data it will automatically go into your data bank which you can dip into if you use your monthly allowance in the future.
Note that the discounts on these devices are calculated as a monthly discount on your bill - you’ll save $2 per month on an iPhone 8 across 24-months. numobile operates on the Telstra wholesale network.
Most of these devices are no longer available brand new, with the exception of the iPhone XS which you can only get through Optus. $76 per month with Optus will get you 10GB of data and a new iPhone XS (64GB), while roughly the same price will get you 50GB per month (excluding bonus data) and a refurbed XS with numobile.
When it comes to refurbished devices, Apple products are among the most trustworthy manufacturers to go with. Apple devices have at least five years of software updates and support so you can rest assured knowing that your phone will likely have the most up to date security and software available. This is compared to Android One devices which are only guaranteed three years of security updates, and other Androids… well that’s entirely up to the manufacturer. Some devices may never get a security update at all.
