HMD Global - the maker of Nokia branded smartphones - just can't stop announcing new devices.
Just a day after announcing that the Nokia 2.1 will hit Australian stores on September 4, the company has confirmed that the Nokia 5.1 will launch on the same day for $329. The Nokia 5.1 succeeds last year's Nokia 5, but it's quite an iterative update. The biggest changes are the extra-tall 18:9 display and the move to Android One.
Android One is an unmodified version of Android maintained by Google rather than the device manufacturer. Google promises that all Android One devices will get at least two years of major operating system updates and regular security updates.
Key specifications for the Nokia 5.1 include a 5.5-inch 1080p+ display, a MediaTek Helio P18 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage, a 16MP rear-facing camera, and a 2,970mAh battery.
The Nokia 5.1 will be available from September 4 for $329 through Harvey Norman.
