Finding a screen protector for an iPhone or a Samsung smartphone is easy, but if you need a screen protector or case for other brands it can be a bit tricky.
Screen protector manufacturer InvisibleShield is trying to solve this problem with InvisibleShield On Demand, a screen protection "printing" solution that can custom cut protection for over 4,000 devices in a matter of minutes.
These screen protector printing stations are currently rolling out to Australian retailers, with access to a device library encompassing everything from from smartphones to smartwatches to tablets to laptops. Even devices you might not expect: in a recent hands-on preview, we found the Nokia 3310 3G in the InvisibleShield printing directory.
Another upshot of InvisibleShield On Demand is that retailers will be able to provide screen protection for new release phones on day one - potentially before other manufacturers have managed to get products to market.
On Demand screen protectors are cut onto InvisibleShield's "premium" scratch-resistant film, which retailers will range in different sizes. After you select your device, you can pick from several different print options, including a case-friendly cut, a full wrap, and a back skin.
The company is set to roll out InvisibleShield On Demand stations to more than 350 locations across Australia and New Zealand, including select Harvey Norman, Optus, and Vodafone stores. However, this process will take some time, as InvisibleShield provides training to individual outlets before they begin offering the tech.
If you're looking to wrap it before you crack it, InvisibleShield On Demand pricing should range from between $29.95 and $39.95 for a smartphone, depending on the material you choose. Unsurprisingly, smartwatches will be a bit cheaper to protect and tablets a bit more expensive, but exact pricing will vary on retailer-to-retailer basis.
