Google has dated a New York hardware event for October 9 (2am, October 10, AEST) where it will almost certainly announce its next flagship smartphones: the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL.
Both phones have leaked heavily, giving us a pretty good idea of what we'll see. The smaller Pixel 3 is expected to move to a taller 5.5-inch 18:9 display, while the Pixel 3 XL's notched screen could be as big as 6.7-inches. Both phones should be powered by a Snapdragon 845 processor, have dual front-facing cameras, a single rear-facing camera, glass backs for wireless charging, and ship with Android Pie.
Past Pixel launch events have also included other hardware such as Google Home, Pixel Buds, and more, so even though we're pretty sure we know what the go with Google's new phones is, there might still be some surprises on the cards. And of course, we're curious as to whether the handsets will stay Telstra exclusives in Australia, or if any other carrier will pick them up.
Google's Pixel event is just one of the major phone announcements set to happen before the year is out. Apple has the iPhone XS unveiling coming up next week, Huawei will announce the Mate 20 in October, and Samsung has hinted it will reveal its bendable Galaxy X in November.
