If you're not fussed about owning the latest and greatest iPhone but still want an iPhone, Telstra has a pretty good price on 2014's iPhone 6. You'll pay $449 to get a 32GB iPhone 6 on Telstra prepaid, which also includes a $30 SIM with unlimited talk and text  and 3GB of data (divided into a standard 1.5GB and an extra 1.5GB of night data) on a 28-day expiry.

Since the phone is being sold on as a prepaid device, it's locked to Telstra's network, which means you won't be able to take it to another provider without forking out a bit of extra cash. If you want to unlock your shiny new iPhone 6 within the first six months, you're looking at an $80 fee. If you're happy to wait, the fee gets cut to $25 after six months. After two years, you'll be able to unlock the phone for free.

The 32GB iPhone 6 configuration is a new model launched by Apple this year (when it launched, the iPhone 6 was available in 16GB and 64GB configurations). Rather than selling it directly, it tends to only be offered through retail partners.

Officeworks is also selling the 32GB iPhone 6 in Australia, priced a slightly pricier $469. It is however network unlocked.

Key specifications for the iPhone 6 include a 4.7-inch HD display, an A8 processor, 1GB of RAM, and an 8MP rear-facing camera.

History suggests the iPhone 6 will get at least one additional major software update after the launch of iOS 11 this September. It might not see an upgrade to iOS 13, but should nonetheless see two full years of support and security updates.
