Boost Mobile has refreshed its plans ahead of summer, increasing data on all recharges worth at least $30. In addition, the telco has introduced a new $70 recharge that comes with a hefty 52GB. The complete range of plans is as follows:
New customers who swap to Boost and take up a plan worth at least $30 will get a bonus 11GB on their first five recharges, provided they activate and make their first recharge before February 25 next year. The remaining four recharges must be made by June 30, 2019.
All Boost recharges worth $30 or more include data rollover for customers who recharge before expiry, 100 standard international texts, unlimited calls to select international destinations, and 100 minutes of international call credit for select other international destinations not covered by the unlimited call offer.
So how do the plans compare? Boost's $40 22GB recharge is actually one of the better no-contract options available around that price-point. You can get a similar amount of data for less if you commit to a 12-month contract, but Boost is one of your best options if you'd prefer a contract-free plan or prepaid. Southern Phone's no-contract 30GB is worth considering too, thanks to a discount that knocks it down from $60 per month to $40 per month. The plan is also powered by Telstra's network, but doesn't come with any international inclusions or data rollover.
Is it is however worth noting that Boost Mobile recharges are sold on a 28-day basis, so you'll need to recharge 13 times per year.
A little known fact about Boost Mobile technically isn't a Telstra MVNO, but a Telstra retail partner. The key benefit is that Boost Mobile has access to all Telstra 3G and 4G network towers, so you can get a signal in a few of the regional areas that the other MVNOs miss out on.
