Telstra's budget brand Boost Mobile has cut $35 off its $300 365-day long-expiry plan, allowing new customers to lock in a year of mobile service for $265 upfront.

The mobile plan comes with 290GB of data, making it the equivalent of paying $22.08 per month for 24GB. That's better value than similarly priced plans on the Telstra network, including Boost's own - especially given a few Telstra-powered providers recently axed their cheapest plans, or are planning to do so.

For example, Boost normally charges $28 for a 28-day recharge with 8GB, while the Woolworths-owned Every Mobile charges $25 per month for 22GB.

Here are Boost's 365-day long-expiry plans:

Boost's 365-day plan becomes a 240GB plan for $300 from the second year, but it is contract-free. As such, you don't need to stay after your first year is over. If you choose to stay with Boost, it works out to be the equivalent of paying $25 per month for 20GB. That's still pretty good value when compared to other Telstra-powered providers.

It's also worth noting Boost is the only Telstra MVNO to use the full Telstra network. This means its coverage reaches 99.7% of the population, compared to 98.8% of the population on the Telstra wholesale network used by other providers. While coverage in most areas is the same, the full Telstra network delivers coverage in some very remote parts of Australia, while the Telstra wholesale network.

 Boost's long-expiry deal runs until September 28.
