Aldi Mobile will also offer customers a day of free mobile data following a Telstra network outage on March 17.
The supermarket-owned MVNO, which resells the Telstra 3G network, will give all current customers free data on Sunday April 3. This is for all customers regardless of whether they are subscribed to PAYG products or one of the telco’s Value Packs.
“There was a nationwide outage on our carrier's network on Thursday 17th March, to put things right, we are giving free data to all of our customers on Sunday 3rd April 2016.” reads the announcement on the telco’s website.
“Whilst the outage was outside of our control we want to make things right for our customers that were impacted”.
As we reported previously, Telstra has taken ownership for the outage, saying that an error occurred which pushed a huge number of customers off the network. When these customers tried to automatically connect, the system became overloaded with the congestion.
Other Telstra network MVNOs, including MeU Mobile, may offer free data on the day, but are yet to confirm the details.
