Chinese tech manufacturer Xiaomi is officially coming down under, bringing two of its latest flagship phones with it: the Xiaomi 15T and Xiaomi 15T Pro.
While Xiaomi phones have been available in Australia in the past, they've typically been brought in by a third-party business or as grey imports. For example, last year, "Xiaomi Australia" (now Tech Treasure Hub) was the official reseller of Xiaomi products in Australia, but it wasn't a part of the mainline Chinese business.
In a comment provided to WhistleOut, a Xiaomi spokesperson said that while Xiaomi itself supplied these third-party distributors with products (and in some cases, Australia-specific variants), these entities were independent businesses.
"There is no more official affiliation with distributors in Australia," said the spokesperson. "As of the 10th October 2025, Xiaomi Australia is officially launching as a wholly owned subsidiary of Xiaomi Corporation."
This means that:
- "Sales, marketing and distribution are now managed directly by Xiaomi, not third parties."
- "Xiaomi is responsible for warranty, after-sales support, and customer service in Australia."
- "Xiaomi retail and channel partnerships will be built and managed directly by Xiaomi to ensure consistency and reliability."
"Xiaomi's goal is long-term growth in Australia," said the spokesperson. "This includes investment in retail, customer service and channel partnerships."
Xiaomi already has a whole host of products listed on its Australian website, but sales won't start until October 10. These include tablets, fitness trackers, a robot vacuum, and power banks. The most exciting, however, are arguably the Xiaomi 15T series.
Xiaomi just unveiled its 15T series phones a week ago, so their local launch will be rather punctual. The series consists of two phones: the Xiaomi 15T Pro and the standard Xiaomi 15T. Both have an emphasis on photography, thanks to a partnership with Leica.
Key specifications for the Xiaomi 15T Pro include a 6.83-inch display with a 144Hz refresh rate, a MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ chipset, 12GB of RAM, up to 512GB of storage, IP68 water-resistance, and a 5,500mAh battery. In terms of cameras, there's a 50MP primary lens, a 50MP 5x telephoto lens, and a 12MP ultra-wide lens on the back. On the front, there's a 32MP selfie camera.

Both phones are available in a choice of black or grey. The standard 15T also comes in rose gold, while the 15T Pro comes in "mocha gold" instead.
Xiaomi is offering discounted pricing at launch through its website. The Xiaomi 15T will start at $799 for a 256GB model, down from the regular pricing of $999. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 15T Pro will start at $1,099 for a 256GB model, down from $1,299.
While Xiaomi recently also announced its 17 series phones with designs (and naming conventions) seemingly inspired by the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, these are currently exclusive to China. There is no word on global availability for these devices yet.
