Woolworths Mobile is taking its biggest perk offline - literally

Woolworths Mobile is tinkering with its trademark perk for supermarket shoppers.

Alongside offering Aussies a selection of postpaid and prepaid phone plans powered by the Telstra network, the other big benefit that comes with Woolies Mobile is the opportunity to save up to 10% on your next grocery run. It used to be that the only catches here were that you could only utilise this perk once per month and that your potential savings are capped out at $50.

As of July, one more caveat is being added to the list. Aussies looking to take advantage of the offer will now only be able to do so via physical Woolworths and Woolworths Metro stores, with Woolworths Online orders being taken off the table.

For context, here’s a quick rundown of the current Woolworths Mobile roster of postpaid SIM-only mobile plans.

These plans are powered by the Telstra network and come with a 500GB data bank, which is always handy to have for those unexpected moments when your home internet connection falls through.

The move comes alongside the announcement that the cost of Woolworths’ Everyday Extra membership scheme is also set to rise from $59 per month to $70 per month amid similar restrictions.

This price hike has already earned the ire of Woolworths Customers on social media.

Fortunately, Woolworths Mobile is far from the only MVNO in town when it comes to offering perks for supermarket shoppers.

Coles Mobile customers can also save money on their weekly grocery shop with a perk that is similar to the shopping discount offered by Woolworths Mobile. For the first six months, you’re signed up to Coles Mobile, you’ll get a gift card each month that knocks 10% off the cost of your next shop.
