Everyday Mobile (formerly Woolworths Mobile) has launched eSIM companion plans for smartwatches, priced at $10 per month.
This makes Everyday Mobile just the third MVNO to offer the functionality in Australia, following Tangerine and More's launch at the start of April. Outside of these smaller providers, Telstra, Optus, and Vodafone are the only other providers to sell companion eSIMs in Australia.
eSIM companion plans for smartwatches allow users to share their mobile connectivity with an eSIM-enabled smartwatch. That smartwatch can then make phone calls, receive text messages, and access mobile data, independently of the phone it's paired with.
This, for example, lets a user go for a run with just their smartwatch while still having mobile connectivity. Smartwatches from Apple, Samsung, and Google are all available in eSIM-enabled variants.
Naturally, an eSIM companion plan requires a customer to have a mobile plan with the telco in question. You can't have a mobile plan from one provider and an eSIM companion plan from another.
Everyday Mobile is only selling companion eSIMs to customers on its $40, $50, and $60 per month 5G SIM-only plans. These plans are as follows:
Everyday Rewards members can save 10% on these phone plans, bringing the price down to as low as $36 per month. The 10% discount does not apply to the companion eSIM, however.
While a total of $46 is cheaper than getting a SIM-only plan and companion eSIM from one of the major providers, Tangerine is currently the cheapest option. Tangerine's eligible plans start at $29 per month, which increases to $39 per month with the companion eSIM.
Telstra and Vodafone charge $5 per month for a companion eSIM, while Optus charges $10 per month.

There are a few terms and conditions worth noting when it comes to Everyday Mobile's companion eSIMs. Connected smartwatches can only use a plan's primary allowance; they can't access banked data. And as is fairly standard, a companion eSIM won't work with international roaming.
Everyday Mobile companion eSIMs are compatible with every Apple Watch from the Series 3 and up, and every Galaxy Watch from the Watch 3 and up. While Pixel Watch models have been available with eSIM variants, these won't work with Everyday Mobile.
Everyday Mobile is powered by the Telstra network.
