Vodafone Australia customers travelling to New Zealand will see a jump in data speeds, with the telco announcing 4G speeds when roaming across the Tasman.
This will deliver speeds up to a possible 150Mbps in 46 locations, according to coverage maps on the Vodafone NZ website. Major cities Wellington, Aukland and Christchurch are 4G-ready, as is popular tourist destination Queenstown.
As part of its excellent ‘Roam like home’ feature, post-paid customers spend $5 per day to use their phone plan inclusions in 47 overseas destinations. This means a customer subscribed to a Red Plan can make unlimited calls, send unlimited messages and use as much data as they pay for in Australia when travelling to any of the Red Roaming countries.
Vodafone has been improving this unique plan benefit regularly since its introduction a year ago, adding countries across Europe and Asia as agreements were reached in these territories.
The telco as the first to introduce a major revamp of roaming charges in Australia, and while Optus and Telstra followed closely behind, neither has managed to create a traveller’s option as appealing as Vodafone’s Red Roaming.
