Vodafone today announced the removal of all prepaid charges for data and international calls to its five most popular overseas countries during weekends. This promotion will stay in effect until April 26 and is designed to let users get comfortable with their data caps. The prepaid packs in question are the $30, $40 and $50 options.
Vodafone’s new Chief of Marketing Officer, Loo Fun Chee, says that the move was inspired by the already-popular Data Workout deal going on post-paid plans that gives users unlimited data for the first two months of their contract.
“Many Prepaid customers have told us they love Vodafone 4G, our large data allowances and great deals on international calling. But they also told us they keep a close eye on their data usage as they’re unsure of how much data different activities and apps use. They’re worried it will use up all their credit.”
Chee believes that allowing experimentation with more online services and apps during weekend downtime will help educate prepaid users in just how much data usage they can get away with.
It’s also a great way to keep in touch with family, if you’re visiting from one of the five eligible countries.
The trial begins this weekend at 12am on Saturday and will run until April 26. Just remember: Friday night is not part of the weekend, so keep your online revelry contained until at least the wee hours of Saturday morning.
