Optus has been offering an awesome incentive to ditch your current plan and switch to its network since September. That offer is about to end come November 2.
The deal is: up to $200 credit to cover early-exit fees for the plan you may be on, plus up to $250 credit when you trade in your current mobile phone (depending on the phone and its condition).
Ok, so the second part of that isn’t a head-turner. You can usually get more for that by selling your phone yourself, but that $200 incentive to leave your current plan early is a pretty good one.
What you need to do
Sign up to an Optus post-paid contract with a new phone. Pick any available handset on plans and you should be eligible for Optus to grant you credit equal to whatever your early-exit fee was from your old provider, up to $200, when you make your request.
This is a great opportunity to essentially switch carriers for free if you’re stuck at the end of a contract that you’re dying to leave. You still have to pay the actual early-termination fee yourself, but your Optus bill credit will go a long way towards making that up.
Existing customers get love, too
If you’re in the last 3 months of an Optus post-paid plan, Optus will waive the remaining fees and sign you up to a new contract complete with a shiny new phone.
You also have the option of taking advantage of the $250 handset trade-in, but once again you’re probably better-off selling it yourself.
