Australians will soon have another cheap 5G smartphone to pick from, with TCL set to launch the 20 5G (pictured above) in late May for $499. That will make it one of the cheapest 5G smartphones around, coming in at the same price as the Moto G 5G Plus and the Samsung Galaxy A32 5G.
The only cheaper 5G phones available locally are the OPPO A54 5G and OPPO A74 5G, priced at $399 and $449, respetively.
Of course, 5G in itself isn't a reason to buy a new smartphone. Fortunately the TCL 20 5G's other specifications are pretty respectable for the money. These include a 6.67-inch 1080p+ display, a Snapdragon 690 5G processor, at least 128GB of expandable storage, 6GB of RAM, and a 4,500mAh battery. The camera setup consists of a 48MP primary lens, 8MP ultra-wide lens, and 2MP macro lens.
You'll find the TCL 20 5G at Harvey Norman in late May, and Officeworks from June.

The TCL 20 5G is joined by TCL 20 SE (pictured above), which is a bit more of a conventional budget smartphone. Despite cribbing the acronym from Apple's smallest screen phone, the TCL 20 SE features a rather large 6.82-inch display, paired with a 5,000mAh battery.
Other key specifications include a Snapdragon 460 processor, 64GB of storage, 4GB of RAM, and a 5,000mAh battery. On the back you'll find a 16MP primary lens, a 5MP ultra-wide lens, 2MP depth lens, and 2MP macro lens.
It will set you back $299 outright and you'll find it in Officeworks in June.
