Samsung Galaxy A32

Samsung has just launched three new A series smartphones, bringing a number of high-end features like high refresh rate displays down to a more affordable price point.

The Galaxy A32 is the cheapest device out of the three new models, and is available in both 4G-only and 5G variants. To celebrate the release, Samsung will throw in a bonus pair of Galaxy Buds Live (valued at $319) to anyone who picks up a Galaxy A32 or Galaxy A32 5G before April 23.

You'll need to redeem the headphones through Samsung by May 21.

Outright Pricing: Samsung Galaxy A32

The Galaxy A32 and Galaxy A32 5G sit toward the lower end of the 2021 Galaxy A series.

Here's the complete outright pricing the for new Galaxy A range:

  • Samsung Galaxy A32 (128GB): $499
  • Samsung Galaxy A32 5G (128GB): $499
  • Samsung Galaxy A52 (128GB): $599
  • Samsung Galaxy A52 5G (128GB): $649
  • Samsung Galaxy A52 5G (256GB): $749
  • Samsung Galaxy A72 (256GB): $749

Samsung Galaxy A32 Design

The Galaxy A32 and Galaxy A32 5G may share most of their name, but they're pretty different phones. The Galaxy A32 has a 6.4-inch 1080p+ display with a smoother 90Hz refresh rate, while the Galaxy A32 5G has a larger 6.5-inch display running at a lower 720p+ resolution at a more conventional 60Hz refresh rate. This means the standard Galaxy A32 display will be sharper and smoother than what you get on the Galaxy A32 5G.

In addition, the Galaxy A32 has an in-screen fingerprint reader, while the Galaxy A32 5G has its fingerprint reader in the power button.

The two phones come in the same three colours, however: blue, purple, and black.

Samsung Galaxy A32 Camera

Once again, the Galaxy A32 and Galaxy A32 5G have different camera setups. On the Galaxy A32, you'll find a 64MP primary lens, 8MP ultrawide lens, 5MP macro lens, and 5MP depth lens. On the Galaxy A32 5G, you get a 48MP primary lens, 8MP ultrawide lens, 5MP macro lens, and 2MP depth lens.

Samsung Galaxy A32 Battery Life

Both the Galaxy A32 and Galaxy A32 5G have a 5,000mAh battery that Samsung says should last up to two days. We haven't been able to test this claim, however.

Unlike the Galaxy S21 family, the Galaxy A series still includes chargers in the box. You'll get a 15W fast charger with both the Galaxy A32 and Galaxy A32 5G.

Samsung Galaxy A32 Processor

Both the Galaxy A32 and Galaxy A32 5G are powered by midrange MediaTek processors. The Galaxy A32 has a Helio G80 inside, while the Galaxy A32 5G has a Dimensity 720 5G. On paper, the Galaxy A32 5G has a faster processor, and we'd expect to to be a slightly faster performer in day-to-day use.

The Galaxy A32 5G does however have less RAM than the Galaxy A32.

Samsung Galaxy A32 Colours

The Galaxy A32 and Galaxy A32 5G are available in three colours: blue, black, and purple.

The back is made from glossy polycarbonate.

Choosing a Samsung Galaxy A32 plan

With the WhistleOut search tool, you can compare Galaxy A32 pricing and inclusions across every provider. But there's a lot more to plans than just cost and data. Here's a break-down of the major benefits you can expect each provider to offer.

Telstra

Telstra Galaxy plans are often the priciest on the Australian market, but they do come with a host of perks. These include:

  • Access to Telstra's super-fast 4GX network
  • Data-free access to Apple Music
  • Access to the Telstra Plus perks and rewards program

Telstra lets you pay your Galaxy off over 12 or 24 months, and all plans are free from excess data charges. If you go over your cap, your data will simply be slowed to speeds of 1.5Mbps, which is still fast enough to stream video in SD. But speeds may be slower during peak times.

Optus

Optus Galaxy plans come with solid data inclusions and entertainment extras. Most Optus Galaxy plans includes:

  • Free access to Optus Sport
  • Discounted movie tickets for Hoyts cinemas through the Optus Perks program

You'll miss out on Optus Sport if you go for Optus' cheapest plan.

Higher-end Optus Samsung plans also come with unlimited international calls to selected destinations included with the plan, as well as a monthly allocation of roaming data for use overseas.

All Optus plans are contract-free, devices can be paid off across 12, 24, or 36 months, and you can customise inclusions like roaming and international calls on a month-to-month basis.

Vodafone

Vodafone Galaxy plans may not come with the kinds of freebies and perks you can get from Optus or Telstra, but they do offer a lot of flexibility. Like Telstra and Optus plans, Vodafone plans are contract-free on the basis that you can leave at any time without penalty. You'll just need to pay out the remaining value of your handset.

You can also step up or down in plan inclusions up to once per month, and ease the burden of ever-rising phone prices by paying off your handset over 12, 24 or 36 months. You'll pay the same overall for your Galaxy no matter which option you pick.

You'll also get access to Vodafone's famous $5 roaming, which is still easily the best way to travel with your Australian phone number.

Vodafone plans all include unlimited data at capped speeds for after you go over your allowance. Speeds start at 2Mbps for cheaper plans, but go as high as 25Mbps for those spending top dollar.

Woolworths Galaxy plans may not come from a big name telco, but there are other perks.

Customers have the flexibility to switch between plans, you'll just need to pay out the remainder of your phone if you would like to leave.

Woolworths also offers up to 200GB Data Banking for your excess data. Anything of your data allowance that you don't use will roll over to the next month. You can have up to 200GB of data in your data bank at any time.

Woolworths Mobile customers can also get 10% off their Woolworths grocery shop shop once per month.

Woolworths Mobile is powered by the Telstra network, but at present, does not have access to 5G.
