TCL 10L and TCL 10 Pro

TV manufacturer TCL today announced it will be bringing two smartphones to the Australian market on August 10: the TCL 10 Pro and the TCL 10L.

While TCL may not be associated with handsets, it has been making smartphones under Alcatel's, BlackBerry's, and Palm's brands for yonks. As of last year, it has started putting its own name on handsets.

Both the TCL 10 Pro and TCL 10L skew to the more affordable end of the market, with the TCL 10 Pro pitched as the more premium of the pair.

In that vein, it has a curved display with a teardrop notch, an in-screen fingerprint reader, and more storage out of the box. By contrast, the TCL 10L has a flat display with a camera cut-out and a rear-facing fingerprint reader.

Key specifications for the TCL 10 Pro include a 6.47-inch 1080p+ display, a Snapdragon 675 processor, 128GB of expandable storage, 6GB of RAM, and a 4,500mAh battery. It has a quad rear-facing camera setup on the back, including a 64MP primary lens, 16MP ultra-wide lens, 5MP macro lens, and 2MP depth lens.

You'll be able to grab the TCL 10 Pro from JB Hi-Fi and Officeworks from August 10 for $749 in a choice of "Ember Gray" or "Forest Mist Green".

Key specifications for the TCL 10L include a 6.53-inch 1080p+ display, a Snapdragon 665 processor, 64GB of expandable storage, 5GB of RAM, and a 4,000mAh battery. It has a quad rear-facing camera setup on the back, including a 48MP primary lens, 8MP ultra-wide lens, 2MP macro lens, and 2MP depth lens.

In addition, TCL confirmed it will bring a 5G variant of the TCL 10 family - the TCL 10 5G - to Australia later this year. Pricing and availability have yet to be announced, but we wouldn't be surprised to see it come in at around $899.

You'll find the TCL 10L from JB Hi-Fi and Officeworks from August 10 for $449 in a choice of "Arctic White" or "Mariana Blue".
