Spintel today drops prices across its flexible SIM-only plan options, making the more expensive inclusions cheaper and creating a compelling ‘Unlimited’ plan in the process.
Customers with Spintel build their own plans by choosing inclusion values for calls, SMS and data separately; with Small, Medium, Large and X-Large pricing buckets. The price drops apply to all buckets except the Small option.
| Plan option | Old price | New price |
|---|---|---|
|
Small
(calls, text and data) |
$6 | $6 |
|
Medium
(calls, text and data) |
$9 | $7 |
|
Large
(call, text and data) |
$12 | $9 |
|
X-Large
(calls, text and data) |
$15 | $12 |
With the new pricing in place, customers can choose unlimited calls, messages and 2.5GB of 4G data for $36 per month, with service on the Optus 4G network. This is a massive 20-percent price drop from the $45 it used to cost Spintel customers to get exactly the same inclusions.
If 2.5GB data isn’t enough, Spintel will automatically add 1GB for $10 when you reach your plan limits.
How this compares
As a happy coincidence, the Spintel price drops have been announced on the same day competitor Amaysim flags a price increase for its popular Unlimited plan. Amaysim nows offers more 3G data, but is also more expensive per month.
So too is Yatango, the only other telco to use a similar ‘create your own plan’ product model. For unlimited talk and text, plus 2GB data, Yatango customers pay $49 per month.
The closest competitors now on price, are Aldi mobile for $35 per month (with 1250-minutes, unlimited SMS and 1GB data) and Lebara Mobile at $29.90 per month (for unlimited calls and message and 2GB data) — but neither offers the same 4G network speeds.
