Have you noticed how expensive phones are these days? With some phones costing over $1800, you might think a new phone is out of reach. Not so, in fact the price of one of the best phones in town is going down.
The Nokia 8 is one of our favourite Android-powered phones, and for a short time you can get one for up to $360 off on a Vodafone Interest-Free phone repayment plan. Here's how it works.
When you choose the Nokia 8 you will get a Vodafone Loyalty Discount on the total price of the phone and plan, which in most cases is $10 per month on a 36-month plan, or $15 per month on a 24-month option. Either way, you'll save $360 over the course of your commitment.

Why the Nokia 8?
Seriously, there is a lot to like about this phone. Nokia packs a lot of phone into its compact design. Behind the high-resolution 5.3-inch screen, Nokia somehow fits a large 3060mAh battery, which stores about 20-percent more charge than a number of phones of a similar size. You can expect to get a solid day's use with enough left over to make it to your charger before bed.
It runs on Google Android Oreo, which is the latest version, so can be sure it has the best new features from the geniuses at Google. Nokia keeps its software embellishments light, so what you get is a phone that is more like a Google phone than something more complicated from a company like Samsung. This also means you get the latest Android updates much faster.
Most impressive is the photography chops of the Nokia 8. Nokia has maintained a long-running relationship with the photography experts at Carl Zeiss, and with the Nokia 8 you get the benefits of this partnership in, not one, but three camera lenses: two on the back and one on the front.
Of the two cameras on the back, one is a standard full colour sensor, while the other shoots in black and white. While this gives you an edge in taking artsy, old Hollywood style shots, the real benefit of a monochrome sensor is in the way it can be used with the colour lens to improve the colours and contrast in the photos you take. For most situations you should find that 'Twin' shooting mode is the best option.

The Nokia 8 is also the first phone to take the 'Selfie' and turn it into a 'Bothie'. The idea is pretty neat, you use both the front and back cameras at the same time to shoot photos or videos of both the subject and the photographer. Love taking cute photos of your pets or children? Why not capture your reaction at the same time?
The Bothie shooting mode will really come in handy if you regularly post videos to YouTube. You can be pointing one camera at whatever you are talking about, while keep your face on screen while you commentate the action.
All in all, this is a lot of phone for anyone, and a bargain when you consider the $360 you'll save by choosing the Nokia 8. Despite what the big phone companies would like you to think, you don't need to spend a fortune to get the latest and greatest smartphone features.
Prefer prepaid?
The Nokia 8 plan is clearly a good deal, but if you'd prefer something even cheaper then you might be interested in the pint-sized Nokia 3. This prepaid handset has a large 5-inch screen, also runs on Google Android, and has an 8-megapixel camera.
Vodafone has also cut the price of the Nokia 3, by almost half, and you can now get it for $129 with a prepaid SIM card. The deal is only available in Vodafone stores though, so you'll need to plan a trip to the shops to get your hands on one.
