Samsung’s latest smartphones will soon play nice with their iOS counterparts, but there’s no timeline yet on when Aussies will get access to the ability to the new interoperability between AirDrop and QuickShare that was announced back in November 2025.
According to Samsung, the feature will roll out in Korea from this week, before other regions. The list includes Europe, Hong Kong, Japan, Latin America, North America, Southeast Asia, and Taiwan. It does not include Australia.
If you live in any of the above regions, you’ll soon be able to transfer files from a Samsung smartphone to an Apple one as you would using AirDrop.
In contrast to the version of this feature that became available on the latest Google Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL last year, Samsung users will have to dig into the QuickShare section of the settings menu and enable the toggle for Share with Apple Devices.
Once you’ve done that, you’ll be able to use the Quick Share feature as you would with any other Android device. Whatever iOS device you’re looking to connect to will need to open its AirDrop settings and adjust its visibility to Everyone for 10 minutes - but that’s about it.
It’s also worth noting that this functionality is only available to those using a Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus and Galaxy S26 Ultra for now.
According to a blog post by Samsung, “AirDrop support will initially be available on the Galaxy S26 series, with expansion to additional devices to be announced at a later date”.
If that small change was the last thing holding you back from jumping into the Samsung ecosystem, you can find the cheapest plans for the Galaxy S26 Ultra below.
