The tenth generation of Google's flagship Pixel phones is now available, with the Pixel 10 Pro positioned as a "smaller" high-end device for those who don't want the supersized XL. While the Pixel 10 Pro looks pretty similar to last year's model, it has a larger battery, a faster chipset with an improved image signal processor, and new "Pixelsnap" magnetic wireless charging.
Pixel 10 Pro plans
The Pixel 10 Pro is available on mobile plans from Telstra and Optus. Both providers all offer the choice of 24-month and 36-month repayments. A 24-month term means you own your Pixel 10 Pro faster, while a 36-month term lowers your monthly cost.

Pre-orders might be over, but there are still a few Pixel 10 Pro deals available.
Optus: If you pre-order your Pixel 10 Pro on an Optus plan, you'll save $600 across the life of your repayment. That's a saving of $16.67 per month on a 36-month term. This offer runs until September 30.
In addition, you'll save a further $15 per month during the first year on this plan if you pick up the Pixel 10 Pro before September 7.
Telstra: If you pick up your Pixel 10 Pro on a Telstra plan, you'll save $500 across the life of your repayment term. That's a saving of $13.89 per month. This deal runs until September 22.

Pixel 10 Pro features

Pixel 10 Pro design
The Pixel 10 Pro is a dead ringer for last year's Pixel 9 Pro in design. Not much has changed aesthetically, but Google says the display is 10% brighter than the Pixel 9 Pro while using less power.
The Pixel 10 Pro has Qi2 wireless charging, which Google is calling Pixelsnap. This is similar to Apple's MagSafe, where wireless charging accessories magnetically connect to the back of the phone. In addition to wireless charging, this can also be used for accessories like wallets or stands. The Pixel 10 Pro will work with MagSafe accessories, in addition to those made specifically for the Pixel 10 family.
The Pixel 10 Pro is available in a choice of Obsidian, Porcelain, Jade, or Moonstone.
Pixel 10 Pro camera
The Pixel 10 Pro has a 50MP primary camera, 48MP ultra-wide camera, and 48MP 5x telephoto camera. While that's the same kind of set-up as last year, Google says the 50MP primary camera has improvements like better stabilisation. There's also a 42MP selfie camera on the front.
Google has naturally introduced a few new AI camera features this year. These include Camera Couch, which offers suggestions for improving shot composition, and Auto Best Takes, which automatically combines similar group photos into one so everyone is looking at the camera.
Pixel 10 Pro battery
The Pixel 10 Pro has a 4,870mAh battery, which is just a little bit larger than the 4,700mAh cell found in the Pixel 9 Pro. In our testing, the Pixel 9 Pro had excellent battery life, so we'd expect this to continue here.
Pixel 10 Pro processor
The Pixel 10 Pro is powered by the Google-made Tensor G5 processor. Google says the Tensor G5 is its most significant upgrade since it first started making its own chips, boasting 34% faster CPU performance when compared to last year's Pixel 9.
Pixel 10 Pro 5G
The Pixel 10 Pro naturally has 5G connectivity. You can use WhistleOut's coverage checker tool to see whether 5G is available in your area. You just need to enter your address when searching for a new phone plan.
The map below shows you what kind of coverage you have in your area. 5G coverage is highlighted using the darkest shade of purple, but unticking 4G can help make it clearer. You can use the drop-down menu to choose between telcos.
Note: Coverage maps are only approximate, only show outdoor coverage, and may be impacted by local conditions such as buildings.
Pixel 10 Pro eSIM
The Pixel 10 Pro has eSIM support as well as a physical SIM card slot. eSIM (an electronic SIM or embedded SIM) is a rewritable SIM card that’s built directly into the phone. It never leaves your phone. Instead, you simply download a "software SIM" from your provider of choice.
Pixel 10 Pro AI features
Unsurprisingly, the Pixel 10 Pro has a few new AI features. These are available across the entire Pixel 10 family and include the following:
- Magic Cue: Magic Cue proactively surfaces contextual information across apps on your Pixel. For example, if you're calling an airline, Magic Cue can bring up your flight details in the phone app as you place the call.
- Daily Hub: Daily Hub is a new briefing pane, similar to Samsung's Now Brief, that pulls info about your day in one place.
- Take a Message: If you miss or decline a phone call, this feature will give you real-time transcripts from the call, and suggest next steps.
- Live Translate: Like recent Samsung flagships, the Pixel 10 family can automatically translate between languages in phone calls. Google's twist on this is that the translation will be read in the caller's voice, rather than a generic robot voice.

Pixel 10 Pro plan providers
Telstra and Optus are both selling the Pixel 10 Pro. Here's a breakdown of the major benefits each provider offers.
Telstra Pixel 10 Pro plans
Telstra's Pixel plans are the priciest on the Australian market, but they do pack in a fair amount of extra benefits.
Telstra lets you pay your Pixel off over 12, 24, or 36-month periods. Each Telstra plan comes with unlimited data. This means once you use up your allowance your data will simply be slowed to speeds of 1.5Mbps instead of you being charged for excess data.
Optus Pixel 10 Pro plans
Optus' Pixel plans come with solid data inclusions and a couple of bonus perks. Its top-of-the-line plans also have unlimited international calls to selected destinations.
All of Optus' mobile plans are contract-free, and devices can be paid off across 12, 24, or 36 months.
Like Telstra, Optus' postpaid plans are free from excess data charges. If you go over your allowance, your plan is slowed to 1.5Mbps.
How to choose the best Pixel 10 Pro plan for you
Here's what you should keep in mind when comparing Pixel 10 Pro plans:
- How much data you need. Knowing how much mobile data do you use means you'll avoid paying more than necessary. There's no point in getting the plan with the largest data allowance if you only use 30GB a month.
- Repayment period. Decide whether you want to pay off your phone over a shorter 12-month period but pay more per month or opt for a longer repayment period like 24 and 36 months and lower your monthly bill.
- International roaming and other perks. Consider what international roaming inclusions you want your plan to come with and if there are any other perks you value such as free streaming subscriptions, discounts and more.
