The Pixel 10 is the entry-level device from Google's latest smartphone range. As such, it's the cheapest of the family, but it still comes with a bunch of upgrades and new features that are being introduced to the entire line.
Pixel 10 plans
Google's Pixel 10 is available with mobile plans from Telstra and Optus. Both providers offer the choice of 24-month and 36-month repayments. A 24-month term means you own your Pixel 10 Pro faster, while a 36-month term lowers your monthly cost.

Pixel 10 pre-orders are over, but there are still some deals around.
Optus: If you pre-order your Pixel 10 on an Optus plan, you'll save $600 across the life of your repayment. That's a saving of $16.67 per month on a 36-month term. This offer runs until September 30. In addition, you'll save a further $15 per month during the first year on this plan if you pick up the Pixel 10 before September 7.
Telstra: Pre-order your Pixel 10 on a Telstra plan and you'll save $500 across the life of your repayment. That works out to a saving of $13.88 per month on a 36-month repayment term. This offer runs until September 22.

Pixel 10 features

Pixel 10 design
In terms of the overall design, the Pixel 10 looks just like last year's Pixel 9, which introduced a new aesthetic for the range. The 6.3-inch Actua display is around 10% brighter than last year's Pixel 9, and Google says the device is twice as durable as the Pixel 8.
The Pixel 10 comes with Qi2 wireless charging. Google is calling it Pixelsnap, which allows wireless charging accessories to "snap" to the back of the device. Pixelsnap also enables you to attach wallets or phone stands. This is similar to Apple's MagSafe,
where wireless charging accessories magnetically connect to the back of the phone. In addition to wireless charging,
this can also be used for accessories like wallets or stands. Pixelsnap on the Pixel 10 will work with accessories designed for it, as well as existing MagSafe accessories.
The Pixel 10 is available in a choice of Obsidian, Indigo, Frost, or Lemongrass.
Pixel 10 camera
The Pixel 10 has a 48MP primary camera, 13MP ultra-wide camera, and a new 10.8MP 5x telephoto camera, making it a triple rear-camera system. It also has a 10.5MP selfie camera.
It could be a significant downgrade from last year's setup up which had a 50MP primary camera and 48MP ultrawide camera.
There are also a couple of new AI camera features, such as Camera Coach (which provides suggestions for how you shoot) and Auto Best Takes (which can automatically combine similar group shots so that you get a snap where everyone is looking at the camera).
Pixel 10 battery
The Pixel 10 has a 4,970mAh battery, up from the 4,700mAh battery cell found in the Pixel 9. In our testing of the Pixel 9 we found we got a full day's charge with heavy use. We should see the same or better performance here, but we'll update you when we've had a chance to test the device.
Pixel 10 processor
The Pixel 10 is powered by the Google-made Tensor G5 processor. Google says the Tensor G5 boasts 34% faster CPU performance on average when compared to last year's devices.
Pixel 10 5G
As with previous Pixel devices, the Pixel 10 comes with 5G connectivity. Use WhistleOut's coverage checker tool to see whether 5G is available in your area. You just need to enter your address when searching for a new phone plan.
The map below shows you what kind of coverage you have in your area. 5G coverage is highlighted using the darkest shade of purple, but unticking 4G can help make it clearer. You can use the drop-down menu to choose between telcos.
Note: Coverage maps are only approximate, only show outdoor coverage, and may be impacted by local conditions such as buildings.
Pixel 10 eSIM
The Pixel 10 comes with eSIM support as well as a physical SIM card slot. eSIM (an electronic SIM or embedded SIM) is a rewritable SIM card that’s built directly into the Pixel 10. It never leaves your phone. Instead, you simply download a "software SIM" from your provider of choice.
Pixel 10 AI features
The Pixel 10 range has a fair few new AI features. These are available across the entire Pixel 10 family and include the following:
- Magic Cue: Magic Cue proactively surfaces contextual information across apps on your Pixel. As an example, if you're calling a restaurant to update your reservation, Magic Cue can bring up your booking details in the phone app as you place the call.
- Daily Hub: Daily Hub is a Pixel's new briefing pane, similar to Samsung's Now Brief, that pulls info about your day in one place.
- Take a Message: If you miss or decline an incoming phone call, Take a Message will give you a real-time transcript from the call, and suggest next steps.
- Live Translate: Like recent Samsung flagships, the Pixel 10 can automatically translate between languages in phone calls. Google's twist on this is that the translation will be read in the caller's voice, rather than a generic robot voice.

Pixel 10 plan providers
Telstra and Optus are selling the Pixel 10. Here's a breakdown of the major benefits each provider offers.
Telstra Pixel 10 plans
Telstra's Pixel plans are the priciest on the Australian market, but they do pack in a fair amount of extra benefits.
Telstra lets you pay your Pixel off over 12, 24, or 36-month periods. Each Telstra plan comes with unlimited data. This means once you use up your allowance your data will simply be slowed to speeds of 1.5Mbps instead of you being charged for excess data.
Optus Pixel 10 plans
Optus' Pixel plans come with solid data inclusions and a couple of bonus perks. Its top-of-the-line plans also have unlimited international calls to selected destinations.
All of Optus' mobile plans are contract-free, and devices can be paid off across 12, 24, or 36 months.
Like Telstra, Optus' postpaid plans are free from excess data charges. If you go over your allowance, your plan is slowed to 1.5Mbps.
How to choose the best Pixel 10 plan for you
Here's what you should keep in mind when comparing Pixel 10 plans:
- How much data you need. Knowing how much mobile data do you use means you'll avoid paying more than necessary. There's no point in getting the plan with the largest data allowance if you only use 30GB a month.
- Repayment period. Decide whether you want to pay off your phone over a shorter 12-month period but pay more per month or opt for a longer repayment period like 24 and 36 months and lower your monthly bill.
- International roaming and other perks. Consider what international roaming inclusions you want your plan to come with and if there are any other perks you value such as free streaming subscriptions, discounts and more.
